Well, up until about a week ago I didn't think I was going to have much to write about. And then all at once so much happened in a week. Last weekend while we were in Sacramento, Joshua figured out how to sit himself up from laying down. I went to check on him during his nap time and there he was, sitting in the playpen smiling at me. Now he sits himself up all the time. And he isn't stopping there either. He now is trying to get up on all fours to a standing position. It won't be long. He still continues to scoot and bounce around. He truly is a "bouncing baby boy"! Consequently, Tim lowered the mattress in his crib so he can't climb out.
Joshua has been "practicing" walking for a few weeks now. If we hold him by the arms he can walk pretty well. It has gotten to the point now where you can tell he really wants to just take off. Now that he can sit himself up and is trying to stand up, it's only a matter of time before he gets his balance down and then that boy is just going to take off!
Joshua seems to be going through another phase of teething, even though he still has just his two bottom front teeth. Our pediatrician said they may go up and down under his gums for a few months before finally breaking through. Well, he wasn't kidding. The poor little guy goes for weeks at a time of having a runny nose and fussiness but still no teeth. Maybe this time something will finally break through. He's going to need them now that we are adding new foods and textures to his diet. We still feed Joshua pureed baby food that we make at home but we are adding in some new ingredients. Now that Josh is getting more active we have started adding in various protein foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs or beans. He seems to be enjoying it and likes the new flavors and textures.
Now that the weather has turned nicer, we have been spending a lot more time outside with Josh and he loves it! We took him for a hike the Saturday before Easter and put him in the backpack carrier. He hardly made a sound as he looked all around in wonder and amazement. I try to take him for morning walks every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then evening strolls as a family when we get the chance. He just has so much fun and is so curious about everything. We are looking for an outdoor swing for him too. Joshua also loves to play in the bathtub so were thinking we'll get him a little kiddie pool for this upcoming summer as well. We found the cutest little swim trunks for him. I can't wait to put them on him.
Enjoy the pictures and videos below of Joshua's recent happenings!
