Joshua had his 5 month birthday last week and he is passing
both physical and social developmental milestones left and
right! At his last doctor's appointment Josh weighed 16
pounds, 11 ounces (90%) and was 26 1/2 inches long (97%).
He's getting so big and heavy it is hard for me to carry
him for long periods of time! He is still wearing clothes
in the 6-9 month range and has been for about a month now.
What a big, growing boy.
He is rolling over very regularly now and seems to be
enjoying tummy time a little bit more. This is good because
I think crawling is just right around the corner. Joshua is
able to sit without support now if we put him in a sitting
position. He isn't quite yet able to sit up on his own or
pull himself into a sitting position from lying down.
Josh is back to eating rice cereal again after his cold last month. He is doing great and I think once the box is gone we will start him on mashed carrots! His little teeth still seem to be bothering him but with nothing to show for it; he still hasn't cut a tooth. But that doesn't seem to stop him from wanting to put everything in his mouth. It's just his way of exploring his world but it is pretty funny to see the things Josh tries to get in there.
Also, just yesterday I noticed that he has been passing objects from one hand to the other. I handed him one of his socks and he grabbed it with his left hand. He then passed that sock to his right hand so he could grab a second sock in his left hand. This shows great hand-eye coordination and muscle coordination as he had to consciously grab with one hand and let go with the other.

Josh has been developing his social skills as well. His
"talking" is getting quite diverse with lots of laughing,
jabbering, Tarzan yells and the occasional razzberry. He
smiles at just about everyone and enjoys looking at faces
including his own in the mirror. He even reaches out for
others to pick him up and reaches out to pet Coco when she
walks by.
Things are going well with Tim and I also. We are so
blessed. We have seen God working in amazing ways in both
of our lives lately and prayers are being answered. Tim has
started a new work position with his company. This role is
allowing him to utilize more of his education. Tim has been
interacting with new customers and learning new areas of
the software his company develops. I began a new Bible
study recently with some of my girlfriends. The topic is on
becoming a more godly wife. God is so gracious and
longsuffering with me and I am truly thankful and enjoying
the many ways and areas of my heart where the Lord is at
work in me.
Since the weather decided to skip the rainy season here, Tim has parked his car in the driveway for me and set up my exercise equipment in the garage. I am already starting to feel more energy throughout the day and sleeping better at night. While it would be nice to shed a few inches my main goal was to get my body back in shape (in the words of Andrew, 'round is a shape', but I'm not satisfied with that!) and build up my strength in taking care of Joshua. He requires a lot of strength and stamina!
