This week marks week 14 and the beginning of the second trimester of pregnancy. Yay! Tim and I went back to see my OB, Dr. Mellum (he's fantastic!) yesterday and everything looks good. We got to hear baby's heartbeat again with the Doppler and the doctor still seems to think that it's a girl. But we won't have an ultrasound to confirm for another month and a half.
Over the weekend, I started to feel a lot of muscle stretching in my lower abdomen as the muscles are making more room for baby. I did start wearing my maternity pants this week even though they are still a little too big. I am starting to outgrow my regular pants and the "muffin-top" look isn't good on anyone, plus the stretchy maternity jeans are just so comfy!
Because I have such a strong family history of diabetes, Dr. Mellum wants me to do the 1 hour glucose test in the next few weeks instead of at week 28 like usual. Ugh. I'm not looking forward to that. But I have been trying to be very careful about what I eat and my last blood test came back perfectly normal. I guess this is setting me up for a life long practice of healthy eating and exercise so that I can prevent type 2 diabetes in the future.
Tim is a very proud and excited daddy. He is always very concerned about how I am feeling and how the baby is doing. We went grocery shopping together over the weekend and Tim noticed my tummy. He was very excited and whispered in my ear, 'I think you are starting to show!' It was cute.
