Trimming the Fat

Yes, both Tim and I have lost a little weight since the stress of my work has been relieved, but that is not what this blog is about.

Philippians 4:11, 19 say this: "Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am in, to be content:"..."And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.''

With the change in our "economic status" the Lord has graciously and patiently been showing us how to be content with just the bare necessities.  And every month, He provides just enough for what we truly need.  It has been so amazing to see God's faithfulness to us when we act in obedience to what He has called us to.  Things that before were common necessities are now rare luxuries.  I once heard it said that the more stuff you have the more you have to worry about and I am finding that to be so true.

This has also been an amazing time of spiritual growth for both Tim and I as we grow more in our relationship with God and learning to trust in Him and not in our own efforts.  So many times in the last few months, when we were both starting to sweat paying bills, here comes a reimbursement check we forgot was coming or someone kindly offers to fix us a meal and send us home with leftovers as well.  I picture God saying, 'See, I told you.' but He is so much more gentle than that.

I don't write this to invoke pity or sympathy.  Let me remind you that we willingly made these choices in obedience to the plans God laid before us.  I write these things because tough economic times seem to be all to familiar to all of us during right now.  But have faith.  God will take care of us if we allow Him to.  One of my favorite Proverbs is this:  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him , and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.

Tim's job continues to go well and Tim faithfully works, serving to show himself approved, until God calls him elsewhere.  My new Pampered Chef business is moving along well.  With our degree of involvement at church, I am very thankful for the extreme flexibility of Pampered Chef.  But the cooking shows are a lot of fun.  I have met some amazing people and have received some great kitchen gadgets and recipes.  The High School Ministry at church is such a blessing to us.  We are seeing great changes in the kids as well as a huge learning curve for ourselves.  We are surrounded by friends and family to support us as well as the teamwork and friendship of the other youth leaders.  We count our blessings everyday and can't wait to see what the future holds.
